Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,052 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 272,430 with 81 new infections

Nepal on Thursday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,052. The country also recorded 81 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 272,430 with 1,718 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 268,660 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 111 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 33 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 25 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, seven in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur.
As of Thursday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,381. While Kathmandu has reported 501 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 163 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 1,005 individuals from Bagmati Province, 291 from Lumbini Province, 230 from Province 1, 220 from Province 2, 213 from Gandaki Province, 66 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Thursday, 2,107,649 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,023 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 42 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 25 in Gandaki Province, seven in Lumbini Province, four in Province 1, two in Sudurpaschim Province and one in Province 2.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Ilam, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Rukum (West), Mugu and Achham districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Thursday, 64 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 13 others—11 in Bagmati and two in Lumbini—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 134 new Covid-19 cases. Similarly, two deaths and 160 new infections were recorded in the country on Tuesday and seven deaths and 130 new infections on Monday.
