Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,047 with two more deaths; national tally reaches 272,215 with 160 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported two more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,047. The country also recorded 160 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 272,215 with 1,737 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 268,431 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 165 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 79 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 67 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, seven in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,283. While Kathmandu has reported 500 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 163 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 1,003 individuals from Bagmati Province, 290 from Lumbini Province, 229 from Province 1, 220 from Province 2, 212 from Gandaki Province, 66 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 2,101,059 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,309 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, three cases were recorded in Province 1, two in Province 2 and 90 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim reported 43, 19, one and two cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Kalikot, Rukum (West), Mugu and Achham districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Tuesday, 64 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 15 others—13 in Bagmati Province and two in Lumbini—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported seven Covid-19-related fatalities and 130 new cases. Similarly, three Covid-19-related fatalities and 119 new cases were reported on Sunday and 99 new infections were recorded in the country on Saturday.
