The Department of Languages and Mass Communication under the School of Arts at Kathmandu University is organising a national-level film conference today and tomorrow at the Nepal Tourism Board’s (NTB) premises.
The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), Film Critics Society Nepal, and Directors’ Guild Nepal are jointly supporting the symposium, which is promoted in collaboration with the NTB.
Veteran Nepali artist Basundhara Bhusal will inaugurate the event.
The panel discussions will cover themes such as ‘The Visual Language of Cinema: Strengths and Limitations’, ‘Film Festivals and Domestic Markets,’ and ‘Dialogue on Film Education’.
Three short films, directed by department students or those who have previously received awards at KIMFF, will be screened during the two-day event. The films include ‘Sawari Sahitya’, ‘A Mother’s Embrace’, and ‘Songs of Love and Hate’.
The Department of Languages and Mass Communication organises this symposium annually. The first edition was held last year.
