Kathmandu University to launch Sanskrit language classes
Safeguarding the Sanskrit language is essential to preserving human civilisation, experts say.

The Department of Language and Mass Communication at Kathmandu University is set to introduce short-term Sanskrit language courses soon.
The announcement was made at the event organised by Jarokilo Pratishthan in collaboration with Kathmandu University’s Department of Language and Mass Communication, Valmiki Vidyapeeth, the Department of Philosophy at Tri-Chandra College, and other partner institutions.
On the occasion, eminent Sanskrit scholar and researcher Prof Rishiram Pokharel was felicitated. Pokharel remarked that the past, present, and future of Eastern civilisation are deeply embedded in the Sanskrit language.
Kathmandu University Associate Professor Ramchandra Paudel shared that, recognising the continued relevance and significance of Sanskrit, the Department of Language and Mass Communication under the School of Arts will soon commence short-term courses in the language.
Madhav Prasad Pandey, coordinator of the Jarokilo Foundation, stated that safeguarding the Sanskrit language is essential to preserving human civilisation itself, adding that Sanskrit is not only the oldest but also among the finest languages in the world.
