With 2,321 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 742,228
The Health Ministry reports 33 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Thursday reported 2,321 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 742,228.
Similarly, 754 people tested positive in a total of 4,492 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 3,803,015 PCR and 416,986 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 11,946 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 33 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,429. The number of active cases stands at 40,500.
According to the ministry, 691,299 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,126 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 867 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 639 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 127 in Lalitpur and 101 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 443 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 29 in Province 2, 1,164 in Bagmati, 429 in Gandaki, 159 in Lumbini, 67 in Karnali and 30 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 21 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 18 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 739 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 168—50 in Province 1, 99 in Bagmati, seven in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 2,613 new coronavirus cases and 42 deaths. Similarly, 2,456 new coronavirus cases and 27 deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 2,566 new coronavirus cases and 35 deaths were reported on Monday.
