With 2,613 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 739,907
The Health Ministry reports 42 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Wednesday reported 2,613 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 739,907.
Similarly, 790 people tested positive in a total of 4,999 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Wednesday, 3,791,069 PCR and 412,494 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 11,839 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 42 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,396. The number of active cases stands at 40,338.
According to the ministry, 689,173 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,104 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 993 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 711 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 160 in Lalitpur and 122 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 486 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 21 in Province 2, 1,310 in Bagmati, 508 in Gandaki, 176 in Lumbini, 59 in Karnali and 53 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 21 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Wednesday, 770 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 186—48 in Province 1, 120 in Bagmati, seven in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini and three in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 2,456 new coronavirus cases and 27 deaths. Similarly, 2,566 new coronavirus cases and 35 deaths were recorded on Monday and 1,793 new coronavirus cases and 33 new deaths were reported on Sunday.
