Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,674 with 11 more deaths; national tally reaches 246,694 with 1,044 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported 11 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,674. The country also recorded 1,044 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 246,694 with 12,148 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 232,872 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,271 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 541 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 402 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 105 in Lalitpur and 34 in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 114,950. While Kathmandu has reported 435 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 131 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 855 individuals from Bagmati Province, 218 from Lumbini Province, 206 from Province 1, 205 from Province 2, 119 from Gandaki Province, 47 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 1,820,618 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,414 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 89 new infections were reported in Province 1, 25 in Province 2, and 654 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 86, 113, 15 and 62 cases respectively.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 310 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 50 others—25 in Bagmati Province, nine in Gandaki, seven in Province 1, three in Lumbini, and two each in Province 2, Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 12 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,217 new infections. Similarly, 14 deaths and 1,056 new infections were recorded in the country on Wednesday and 23 deaths and 1,382 new cases on Tuesday.
