Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal met at Baluwatar on Thursday on the occasion of Deuba’s birthday.
The leaders discussed current political issues at the meeting held at the prime minister’s official residence. Prime Minister Oli wrote on Facebook that he had the opportunity to extend birthday wishes to his friend and former prime minister Deuba during the discussions.
“Today, I wished my friend and former prime minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, on his birthday. We also discussed various political matters,” Oli wrote.
Dahal’s secretariat also confirmed that the discussions focused on political issues, including holding a meeting of the Constitutional Council.
During the meeting, Maoist Centre chair Dahal said all vacant positions in constitutional bodies should be recommended by tomorrow.
If not, a new consensus should be reached to make recommendations for the vacant positions as soon as possible, Dahal’s secretariat quoted him as saying.
The Council recommends nominees for heads and members of constitutional bodies and chief justice. The nominees are appointed by the President after the parliamentary hearing committee endorses them.
