Lawmaker Chandra Bhandari undergoes surgery in Mumbai

Nepali Congress lawmaker Chandra Bhandari on Friday underwent surgery on his legs at the Mumbai-based National Burn Centre.
According to Congress leader Yog Raj Kandel, the doctors attending to the leader said they will decide on another surgery after monitoring his health condition.
Quoting Dr. Sunil Keswani, chief surgeon at the hospital, Kandel said it took over two and a half hours for the surgery as Bhandari has sustained deep burn injuries on his right leg.
Bhandari, who has sustained serious burn injuries in a fire at his house, was airlifted to Mumbai, India for treatment on Thursday.
Doctors attending to the leader had recommended taking him to a health institution with better medical facilities abroad stating that his health condition had deteriorated and he has sustained burn injuries in 25-30 percent of his body.
Lawmaker Bhandari and his mother Harikala Bhandari had sustained burn injuries during the incident that occurred at their home in Buddhanagar in Kathmandu. Harikala died while undergoing treatment.
