Police have arrested a man who allegedly impersonated a policeman.
Police Inspector Jagadish Regmi said 35-year-old Jeevan Gurung of Ghanapokhara of Marshyangdi Rural Municipality was arrested on the charge of swindling people with the promise of jobs, claiming him as a policeman.
Police said Regmi fled with Rs 717,500 he had collected from victims promising them jobs in government offices and settling police cases.
A total of four women had lodged a complaint with the police after finding out that they were duped.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Shreemal said a police team from Lamjung District Police Office nabbed him from Pokhara on Tuesday.
Police said Regmi has been remanded to five days in judicial custody, adding he will be sentenced to up to seven years in jail and slapped Rs70,000 fine if found guilty.
