Former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who currently leads the other faction of the Nepal Communist Party, flew to India on Monday for the treatment of his wife, Sita Dahal.
Sita Dahal is suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy, an uncommon brain disorder that causes serious problems with walking, balance and eye movements. The disorder results from deterioration of cells in areas of one’s brain that control body movement and thinking.
According to Dahal’s private secretariat, the Dahals on Monday morning flew to New Delhi from where they will travel to Mumbai. They are accompanied by their two daughters–Renu and Ganga.
In Mumbai, Sita will receive treatment at Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute, said Bishnu Sapkota Jugal, press coordinator to Dahal.
Recently, Sita was admitted to the Lalitpur-based Mediciti Hospital.
Earlier in March last year, Sita was taken to the Baltimore-based John Hopkins Hospital in the United States of America. Before that, she was taken to Singapore for treatment in June 2018.
