Operation and emergency services have been halted since Friday. According to the notice issued by Chief Executive Officer BM Nagpal, the employees had not collected garbage and sterilised equipment for the past five days, putting forth an eight-point demand. The hospital turned back new patients while the number of those already admitted is 350. Bishnu Dhakal of the admin section said the teaching hospital receives around 950 patients on a daily basis.
The demands include safety measures and special gear for sanitation staff.
According to a statement issued by the human resource chief, the hospital is ready to address seven concerns of the staff while a negotiated settlement could be sought for the dress row.
