Morang Auto Works, the authorised dealer of Yamaha motorcycles and scooters in Nepal, launched the much-awaited Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 in Nepal, on Tuesday. The bike is priced at Rs419,900.
The demand for sports bikes is high among youngsters due to its racing nature, said the company. “The demand for R15 v3 is so high that we are not able to supply everyone with the latest model,” said a company source.
Morang Auto Works opened bookings for the new bike during the Nepal Automobiles Dealers Association (NADA) Auto Show 2018 and sold more than 500 units of bike within two months before the official launch. Youngsters, especially those who have used the earlier R15 versions are updating to the new one, said the company.
According to the company, authorised showrooms of Yamaha are selling 4 to 5 R15 bikes per day in the Valley. The company has set a target to sell 800 units of the R15 V3 by the end of this year.
Speaking at the official launch of the new bike, Chiranjibi Shah, CEO of Morang Auto Works Enterprises said, “R15 V3 is in line with Yamaha’s commitment to introduce global products and embodies Yamaha’s core philosophy of performance, design and innovation.”
He further said the company is confident that this launch will not only bolster Yamaha’s presence in the popular 150 cc segment but, further enhance the brand value of Yamaha in Nepalese market.
Yamaha R15 V3 features a 155 cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine that uses innovative technologies like variable valve actuation and assist along with a slipper clutch, said the press statement issued by the company.
The revolutionary variable valve actuation system introduced in the new version delivers top-end power without sacrificing torque in the low to mid-range which results in linear acceleration and high performance character along with sharper throttle response, states the press statement.
Similarly, the assist and slipper clutch has been adopted to reduce the weight of the clutch pull and provide low stress shifting during deceleration.
The same features also provide smooth and enjoyable downshifts while riding.
According to press release, R15 V3 has a high compression ratio, resulting in a maximum of 19.3 PS at 10,000 RPM and delivers 18NM of torque at 8500 RPM.
Continuing with the great legacy of R-DNA since 1998 with the launch of R1, Yamaha has introduced similar technology and high performance with its new R15 V3.
Similarly, the bike has been designed and styled from its bigger siblings, the R1 and R6.
The bike weighs 139 kg and has a massive 170 mm ground clearance. R15 V3 gets a stylish look from its fully digital instrument console and LED head and tail lights.
The feeling of unity between the rider and machine is achieved through the upgraded riding position which is more aggressive than previous models and also sports a wider rear tire.
The bike is being imported from Yamaha manufacturing plant in India.
