The expo will be inaugurated by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
The 3rd edition of the expo is organised by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) in association with Korean Embassy in Kathmandu. It is also supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Trade and Export Promotion Centre.
The expo will showcase a wide range of products from across Nepal and 7 other countries—Korea, Thailand, India, China, Japan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Thailand is designated as the focus country this year.
This means that products from Thailand will be promoted heavily. A total of 225 stalls are showcasing products including automobile, electronic, flooring and furnishing, home appliances, fashion wear and accessories, mobile phone and gadgets, fast-moving consumer goods products. Last year, 220 stalls were present at the expo.
The expo aims to develop Nepal’s economy, industrial and commerce sector and to facilitate international business promotion. “We can learn many things from this kind of expo and we want to promote Nepali products in the international market through the expo” said Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, president of NCC.
“We are trying to convert imported products into industrial products in the coming days,” added Shrestha.
The organiser is expecting more than 300,000 footfalls during the expo that will run through December 4. The title sponsor of the 5-day expo is Samsung Electronics. “Because of this expo, there has been a transaction of more than Rs2 billion every year,” said Tej Singh Bista, deputy executive director at Trade and Export Promotion Centre. “This expo has helped boost the export of Nepali products,” he added.
The 3rd edition of the expo is looking to focus on business interactions, exchange of information on import and export and marketing Nepali products.
