Nepal on Thursday reported 2,052 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 754,915.

Similarly, 381 people tested positive in a total of 4,672 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Thursday, 3,868,717 PCR and 450,329 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 9,702 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 26 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,638. The number of active cases stands at 38,384.

According to the ministry, 705,893 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,929 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 733 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 561 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 106 in Lalitpur and 66 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 361 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 23 in Province 2, 1,016 in Bagmati, 408 in Gandaki, 138 in Lumbini, 50 in Karnali and 56 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 20 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 20 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Thursday, 620 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 165—44 in Province 1, 101 in Bagmati, eight in Gandaki, six in Lumbini and three each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Wednesday reported 1,862 new coronavirus cases and 44 mew deaths. Similarly, 2,020 new coronavirus cases and 35 new deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 1,548 new coronavirus cases and 24 new deaths were reported on Monday.
