Nepal on Sunday reported 1, 702 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 747,433.

Similarly, 218 people tested positive in a total of 3,073 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Sunday, 3,830,691 PCR and 432,555 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 9, 443 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 24 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,509. The number of active cases stands at 38,751.

According to the ministry, 698,173 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,248 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 566 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 395 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 110 in Lalitpur and 61 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 363 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 14 in Province 2, 823 in Bagmati, 407 in Gandaki, 71 in Lumbini, 23 in Karnali and one in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 22 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Sunday, 681 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 169—51 in Province 1, 104 in Bagmati, four in Gandaki, six in Lumbini and two each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Saturday reported 1, 424 new coronavirus and 30 deaths. Similarly, 2, 079 new coronavirus cases and 26 deaths were reported on Friday and 2,321 new coronavirus cases and 33 deaths were reported on Thursday.
