Nepal on Tuesday reported 8,387 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 528,848.

Similarly, 249 people tested positive in a total of 630 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 169 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 6,700. The number of active cases stands at 117,261.

According to the ministry, 404,887 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 6,404 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,613 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,863 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 427 in Lalitpur and 323 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 1,069 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 510 in Province 2, 4,030 in Bagmati, 1,152 in Gandaki, 697 in Lumbini, 232 in Karnali and 697 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 50 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 13 districts host more than 200 active cases each.

As of Tuesday, 2,958,620 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 22,306 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

On Tuesday, 1,672 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 447—53 in Province 1, 38 in Province 2, 279 in Bagmati, 34 in Gandaki, 22 in Lumbini, seven in Karnali and 14 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 7,220 new cases and 185 Covid-19-related fatalities. Similarly, 7,598 new cases and 193 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported on Sunday and 8,591 new cases and 129 Covid-19-related deaths were recorded on Saturday.
