Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 3,112 with 10 more deaths

Nepal on Wednesday reported 10 more Covid-19 related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 3,112. The country also recorded 2,220 new cases and 131 antigen positives.

The overall infection tally has reached 289,787 with 10,582 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 276,093 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, 287 of them in the past 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,051 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 786 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 181 in Lalitpur and 84 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 1,148 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 186 in Gandaki, 507 in Lumbini, 107 in Province 1, 169 in Province 2, 29 in Sudurpaschim and 74 in Karnali province.

As of Wednesday, 2,369,401 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 8,844 PCR and 803 antigen tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.

Until Wednesday, 180 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Forty-seven others—32 in Bagmati, 10 in Lumbini, three in Sudurpaschim and one each in Gandaki and Karnali—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Tuesday reported eleven Covid-19 related fatalities and 1,667 new cases. Similarly, eight Covid-19 related fatalities and 1,227 new cases were reported on Monday and eight Covid-19 related fatalities and 1015 new cases were recorded on Sunday.
