Animal rescue teams step in to help injured animals after protest
Team Sankalpa and TFC Nepal are providing urgent medical care and shelter to animals affected by the protests.
Post Report
Irfan Khan, founder of Team Sankalpa, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing medical and humane care to animals and assisting destitute humans, is on the ground with his team in areas affected by recent unrest. Khan and his team are making rounds to locate and treat seriously injured animals. In a video shared on Instagram, he urged the public to refrain from vandalism while highlighting their presence with medical kits and supplies to provide immediate care to animals in need.
TFC Nepal (Tula’s Foundation for Compassion Nepal), a non-profit organisation that supports local animal rescue, has also been actively helping animals affected by the unrest. The team rescued a few dogs from inside the parliament in Baneshwar, including one named Gen Z. Tula Ram Rajbanshi, founder of TFC Nepal, said, “We were on the ground inside the parliament and Singha Durbar, but found very few animals. Perhaps due to the protests, they are hiding somewhere.”
He added, “Rescuing a small, deeply injured dog took more than half an hour, as the dogs are hesitant to come in front of people now because of the protests and gunshots.” The rescued animals have been receiving food and medical treatment at a private hospital in Jwalakhel.
Both organisations encourage anyone who spots injured animals to reach out and provide information. Irfan Khan can be contacted via Instagram, while TFC Nepal can be reached at 9860253053.
