Local level polls: Filing of nomination begins in province 3, 4 and 6

Nomination process has begun in 283 local units, including 97 municipalities and metropolises, under 34 districts of Province 3, 4 and 6.
Sajha Party’s candidate former secretary Kishor Thapa is the first candidate to register nomination for the KMC mayoral post at Rastirya Sabha Griha. The party’s deputy mayoral candidate Nirupama Yadav has also filed her nomination today.
Sajha Party has decided to register candidacy as independent candidate as the party has not formally registered with the Election Commission. Earlier, the party led by former BBC Nepali service journalist Rabindra Mishara had announced its decision to field Thapa and Yadav as its candidates to contest the local level polls.
Likewise, Bibeksheel Nepali Party’s candidate Ranju Darshana (Neupane) has registered her nomination for the KMC mayoral post at Rastirya Sabha Griha.
Six independent candidates had submitted their nominations for mayoral post in KMC and two independent candidates had filed nominations for KMC deputy mayor until12:30 pm. The other mayor candidates to file nominations are Binod Kumar Chhetri, Birendra Dhakal and Amod Maharjan. Likewise, Jenisha Bhattari is the first candidate to file nomination for deputy mayor.
Likewise, Rastriya Janamorcha candidates Dr Nimral Kumar Thapa and Ritu Sapkota KC have submitted her nomination for the post of Mayor and deputy mayor.
The Election Commission (EC) has called the political parties and people to nominate their candidates on Tuesday for the first phase of the local level elections scheduled for May 14.
