Kathmandu
Jagdish Kharel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has been elected from Lalitpur-2 in the House of Representatives elections.
Kharel, who had resigned as Minister for Communications and Information Technology to contest the polls, secured 39,491 votes.
His nearest rival, Prem Krishna Maharjan of Nepali Congress, received 7,420 votes.
Rajarama Tandukar of Ujyalo Nepal Party obtained 5,547 votes, while Prem Bahadur Maharjan of CPN-UML got 4,536 votes.
Among other candidates, Raghuvar Raj Thapa of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 1,760 votes, Rajendra Amatya of the Nepali Communist Party 1,217 votes, and Saroj Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party 608 votes.
