Govt panel to probe MP Khadka accident
The government on Monday formed a three-member committee to look into the accident in which lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka died on Sunday evening.The committee, headed by Deputy Attorney General Rajendra Subedi, has been asked to submit a report within a week, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications. Deputy Inspector General of Police Madhav Prasad Nepal and Director of the National Investigation Department Ganesh Adhikari are the other members.
Khadka, 51, was elected in the second Constituent Assembly election from Baglung Constituency-1 under the direct electoral system.
Khadka was injured in a jeep accident on Wednesday while on his way to the inaugural ceremony of a Mahayagya organised by Balewa Campus. He was airlifted to Maharajgunj-based Neuro Hospital for treatment immediately but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Congress forms separate panel
An emergency meeting of the Nepali Congress on Monday formed a separate committee to investigate into the accident.
The three-member committee is headed by party CC member and spokesman Dilendra Prasad Badu. Lawmakers Romi Gauchan Thakali and Kamal Pangeni are the other members. The probe panel has been asked to present a report to the party central committee within a month.
Condoling Khadka’s death, the meeting decided to close the party central office and lower the party flag to half mast on Tuesday. It was decided that party leaders, including several CC members and Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel will attend Khadka’s last rites in Baglung on Wednesday and pay him final tributes on behalf of the party.
