The District Attorney’s Office in Chitwan has filed a charge sheet seeking life imprisonment with confiscation of entire property against those accused in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel- 7 in Gorkha.
The attorney’s office on Sunday filed the charge sheet at the Chitwan District Court, seeking life imprisonment of the 13 accused.
Among the accused are Rudra Acharya, who is living in the United Kingdom now, and Januka Poudel of Gorkha. District Attorney Ek Narayan Lamsal said the charge sheet was filed against the accused as pointed out by the victim’s family.
“A charge sheet has been filed seeking life imprisonment as per the existing laws. Those who are in custody have also been included in the charge sheet,” Lamsal said. The court said the hearing on the case would begin from Tuesday once statements were taken from the accused.
Krishna, then 19, was reportedly abducted from Bakulharchok in Ratnanagar Municipality, Chitwan, in 2004 by the then Maoist rebels and subsequently killed.
Superintendent of Police Pradhyumna Karki said two of the accused, Chhabilal Poudel and Bhimsen Poudel, are under police custody. Police had on Wednesday submitted all case-related documents to the District Attorney’s Office.
Police have already made several arrests in connection with the murder case. Parshuram Poudel was arrested in December last year from his residence at Saradpur, Baharatpur-9. In September last year, another suspect Ram Prasad Adhikari was arrested from Kathmandu and taken to Chitwan.
Both of them were released after 25 days in police detention as the attorney’s office did not file cases against them citing lack of evidence.
Adhikari’s parents—Nanda Prasad and Ganga Maya—have been staging hunger strike in Kathmandu, demanding that the murderers of their son be booked.
