Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav to undergo floor test Friday

Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav is all set to seek a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly at 4pm on Friday.
Yadav had written to the assembly secretariat on Wednesday, requesting the meeting for the vote.
Yadav was appointed chief minister on December 4 under Article 168(2) of the constitution, backed by 77 lawmakers from seven parties.
Under the constitutional provision, a chief minister must seek a vote of confidence within 30 days of appointment. Yadav is taking the vote 15 days after assuming office.
The chief minister from the Nepali Congress is supported by the Janata Samajadi Party-Nepal, Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Nagarik Unmukti Party. The Maoist Centre and Unified Socialist had recently merged to form the Nepali Communist Party, but have yet to update their status in the provincial assembly.
Yadav is the sixth chief minister of Madhesh Province. The province has previously seen Lalbabu Raut, Saroj Kumar Yadav (Bara), Satish Kumar Singh, Jitendra Prasad Sonal, and Saroj Kumar Yadav (Mahottari) serve in the post.
