Unified Socialist to hold central committee meeting on October 29
The party will discuss left unity efforts, ideological issues, and election preparations during the Kathmandu gathering.Post Report
The CPN (Unified Socialist) has the party’s central committee meeting in Kathmandu on October 29 to discuss the proposal for unification with various leftist forces.
According to the party’s Deputy Chief of the Central Publicity Department Damodar Aryal, the meeting will focus on concluding the ongoing talks with leftist, communist, and socialist parties as soon as possible. It will also discuss the party’s ideological position after unification and the management of its leaders, leaders said.
Aryal said that ideological differences and internal organisational disputes will be settled through the meeting. Most party leaders have suggested that, before unifying with some communist factions, groundwork should be done to bring all leftist forces together under a broader polarisation.
The meeting will also discuss the party’s role in ensuring that the upcoming House of Representatives election is conducted on the announced date in a free, fair, and fearless environment. It will assign responsibilities to mobilise all party and affiliated organisations actively in the electoral process.
Furthermore, the meeting set a direction for the party to work with democratic republican forces to defend the present constitution and the system, and create a trustworthy environment for the elections.
Earlier, CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli had called on the Unified Socialist, which has been holding preparatory discussions for leftist unity within and beyond the Socialist Front, to unite with his party.
Unified Socialist was formed by a splinter faction of the CPN-UML in 2021.
