RSP general convention set for overnight vote to elect office bearers

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold an overnight vote to elect its office bearers through its first general convention, with polling scheduled from 9:15pm on Thursday to 12:15am.
According to the fifth revised election schedule published by the party’s central election commission, the entire election process for office bearers will be completed overnight, with final results expected to be announced at 1:30am on Friday.
The schedule states that nominations for leadership positions will be registered between 6:30pm and 7pm, while a preliminary list of candidates will be published at 7:30pm.
Delegates will be allowed to file objections to candidates until 8pm. The commission will review and settle objections by 8:15pm, while candidates will have until 8:30pm to withdraw their nominations.
The final list of candidates will be published at 8:45pm, after which a 30-minute silence period will come into effect until the start of voting at 9:15pm.
Polling for office-bearer positions will continue until 12:15am. Vote counting will begin immediately after polling ends and is scheduled to run from 12:15am to 1:15am.
The election commission said preparations are in place to announce the final results of the office-bearer election at 1:30am.
Party chair Rabi Lamichhane has already been elected unopposed, while the election process for central committee members has been completed.
The remaining contest will determine key leadership positions, including vice-chair, general secretary, joint general secretary and treasurer.
