Gagan Thapa has been elected president of the Nepali Congress, securing 6,584 votes against 375 for his rival, Shyam Krishna Khadgi.
A total of 7,013 votes were cast, of which 54 were declared invalid.
Thapa secured 93.88 percent of the total votes cast, while Khadgi received 5.35 percent. Invalid ballots accounted for the remaining 0.77 percent.
Thapa won by a margin of 6,209 votes.
