Home Ministry says preparations complete for elections
All 77 districts report ready as security arrangements and election materials reach polling centres.Post Report
The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that preparations for the House of Representatives elections on March 5 have been completed.
On Wednesday morning, the ministry held a virtual meeting with chief district officers from all 77 districts to review election security and overall administrative arrangements.
The virtual meeting, chaired by Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha and attended by senior ministry officials, reviewed preparations and security arrangements across all districts.
The three-hour meeting focused on election readiness and security, Rama Acharya, spokesperson for the ministry, said.
She added that all chief district officers reported that preparations were complete and security conditions were normal.
Discussions also covered district-level election arrangements, current conditions, and coordination needed from the centre. The meeting reviewed peace and security, vigilance measures to be adopted on election day, and identified strategies for sensitive security areas.
Home Secretary Shrestha directed chief district officers to strengthen and make election security more effective. All district chiefs confirmed that staff security mechanisms and election materials had been delivered to polling centres.
