Sumana Shrestha quits RSP, lashes out at party leadership
Former education minister says party leaders put themselves above the nation and punish internal critics.

Former education minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has announced her resignation from the party, saying she can no longer tolerate the leadership’s wrong doings.
In a message posted on social media on Sunday, Shrestha criticised what she described as a culture of impunity within the party—leaders who never admit mistakes, repeat errors, and then expect the whole membership to bear the burden. She also accused the party of conducting media trials against internal critics.
“Since the party began placing itself above the country and its leaders above the party, I have been a vocal critic,” Shrestha wrote. “If open attacks continue, I will no longer stand in the way.”
Shrestha urged senior figures across other parties to reflect on their own leadership styles, warning that the current situation has been shaped more by leaders’ behaviour than by external forces.
In April, she resigned from her position as the party’s joint general secretary.
She however didn't quit the party at the time and continued to work as RSP lawmaker in the federal House.
