Police have arrested three people on the charge of assaulting an on-duty police head constable in Bihibare of Panchkhapan Municipality of Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghanshyam Shrestha said Mahesh Katuwal, Basanta Katuwal and Vishnu Katuwal of Panchkhapan Municipality-7 were arrested for allegedly assaulting and abusing the police officer deployed from Bana Area Police Office.

Head constable Santosh Rai who was injured in the attack is undergoing treatment at Sankhuwasabha District Hospital.

A police team was deployed after the locals reported that some inebriated youths had created a ruckus in the local marketplace.

Police said the court has extended their judicial custody by seven days.
