A case has been filed at the Kathmandu District Court against 290 individuals in connection with the Lalita Niwas land grab scam on Sunday.
According to the district court spokesperson Deepak Dahal, a case has been filed against 290 individuals, including Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, Joint Secretary Sushil Vaidya, four former ministers including Nepali Congress leader and former deputy prime minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and six former secretaries on the charge of forging government documents to transfer government land to the names of individuals.
Other two former ministers accused in the case are Dambar Shrestha, Chandradev Joshi and then minister of state Sanjay Sah.
The district attorney’s office registered the case at the court after deciding to prosecute all those involved in the scam.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) last week recommended that a case be filed against 286 people for forgery and organised crime.
However, the district attorney has filed the case only on the charge of forgery citing lack of evidence to prosecute them for organised crime.
