The Rastriya Prajatantra Party on Saturday announced to exit from the government, citing changes in the political equation.
A joint meeting of the party’s central executive committee and lawmakers on Saturday took the decision of quitting the government and recalling all the RPP ministers from the Cabinet.
Following the decision, RPP has also decided to withdraw its support to the government and the provincial governments.
“In view of the sudden change in the political equation and cooperation within the ruling government, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has decided to quit the government. The party believes that the recent changes are clear signs of inherent instability, and it would be inappropriate for the party to remain in power in the changed context. We have decided to withdraw the support given to the government, and quit the government with effect from today,” reads a statement issued by Mohan Kumar Shrestha, Rastriya Prajantantra Party’s spokesperson.
“The party also carries the same belief in the context of the provincial governments and hence, has been decided to withdraw the support given to the provincial governments and withdraw from the provincial governments as well.”
The party ministers are preparing to submit their resignations to the prime minister today itself.
Party president Rajendra Lingden took the decision and also announced his resignation as the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation
RPP vice president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, and lawmakers Bikram Pandey, and Deepak Bahadur Singh currently serve as the Minster of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Minister of Urban Development of Nepal, and State Minister of Energy, respectively.
