Supreme Court orders reservation for Tharu community in public service exams
The apex court has ordered to provide reservations including the posts that were lost due to non-reservation in the fiscal year 2022/23.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued an order to the government to provide reservations for candidates from the Tharu community in the examinations taken by the Public Service Commission.
A joint bench of Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Anand Mohan Bhattarai, hearing on a petition filed by the Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha at the apex court, ordered the government to provide reservation with compensation in the public service examination to Tharus and other new reservation groups as per the provisions of reservation.
The order issued by the Supreme Court stated that ‘compensation should be granted to the eligible reservation group for the damage caused due to the lack of legislation which has barred the implementation of guaranteed rights.’
The apex court’s judgement has ordered the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, concerned ministries, public service commission, province public service commission, education service commission, various banks, authorities established according to law, boards, companies, universities, institutions, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, to provide reservation including the posts that were actually lost due to non-reservation in the fiscal year 2022/23.
