The CPN-UML has finalised its members for the Provincial Assemblies under the Proportional Representation category, with the female candidates dominating the proceedings with 71 seats of the 75.

With very few women candidates making it through the federal parliament and provincial assembly polls under the first-past-the-post category, the parties were compelled to select more women candidates from their PR list.  The UML selected the candidates during its standing committee meeting on Thursday.

The party garnered 15 PR seats in Province 1, seven in Province 2, 16 in Province 3, 10 in Province 4, 13 in Province 5, six in Province 6 and eight in Province 7.

Bibeksheel Sajha picks lawmakers in Province 3

The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has picked its provincial assembly members under the Proportional Representation (PR) category in Province 3. A central committee meeting on Wednesday decided to pick Ramesh Paudyal of Sindhupalchok, Shova Shakya of Lalitpur and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha of Kathmandu, according to party Spokesperson Surya Raj Acharya. All three names were sent to the Election Commission on Thursday.

Paudyal, who is also the member of party’s central coordination committee, will lead the parliamentary party at the Provincial Assembly in Province 3.

The party had garnered 144,442 votes under the PR category in Province 3.
