Santosh Shrestha, 19, of Dummana Village in Amchok Rural Municipality, Bhojpur, had raped the minor girl while she was in a forest to gather fodder on Saturday.
Lal Bahadur Suchyauri of Bishwokarma Kalyan Sewa Samiti, an organisation that works for the Dalit rights and welfare, said Shrestha should get maximum jail sentence for the heinous crime that he has committed.
Senior Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Pal has assured to take necessary steps to offer justice to the girl, who is undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Sunsari.
The incident was revealed only on Sunday when doctors enquired the girl about her injuries. Shrestha was arrested after the doctors contacted police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipendra Panjiyar said Shrestha had threatened to kill the girl to keep her silent.
Shrestha admitted to his crime following his arrest.
DSP Panjiyar said they were waiting for the girl’s medical report from to build a case against Shrestha.
