Vote counting has stalled in Lahan Municipality of Siraha district following a dispute over recounting.
The counting stalled after Nepali Congress candidate Ram Dayal Mahato elected in ward t3 of the municipality defeating Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum (SSF)’s Phanilal Mahato by only eight votes. The dispute surfaced after SSF candidate Mahato demanded recounting.
An all-party meeting has been convened to resolve the dispute.
