Police have not disclosed the identities of the arrestees.
According to DSP at Kanchanpur District Police Office, Gyan Bahadur Seti, the perpetrators were arrested while they were fleeing the scene after robbing the belongings of Nandaram Rana, Dev Bahadur Rana and Dil Bir Rana of Salyan after offering them alcohol laced with sedatives. The victims were returning home to celebrate Dashain festival when the incident occurred.
Police said the trio were rescued after the security personnel found them unconscious at Brahmadev in Bhimdutta Municipality-9, of Kanchanpur district.
DSP Sethi said that IRs 53,000 and various goods were recovered from the possession of detainees. He added that preparations are underway to file a case against them.
The victims have not regained consciousness yet.
“We were trying to enter Rupadiya from Paudi of India,” said Dal Bir, who was in semi-conscious state, “But the arrestees had told us that the bus to Rupadiya would not be available and suggested us to take the vehicle from Tanakpur and in the mid-way they offered us alcohol and robbed us.”
“We fell unconscious while consuming the booze. While we regained consciousness we saw syringe in our hands,” Dal Bir said.
