A rally was organised in Bhairahawa on Wednesday demanding action against those involved in attack on businessman and Vice Chairman of Siddhartha Chambers of Commerce and Industries (CCI), Kul Prasad Neupane.

An armed gang shot at Neupane at his Gallamandi-based shop in Siddharthanagar municipality-6 on Tuesday. Fortunately, Neupane escaped unhurt. 

The rally organised by Siddhartha Chambers of Commerce and Industries and Rupandehi chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce & Industries also submitted a memorandum to Chief District Officer demanding action against the guilty, said Siddhartha Chambers of Commerce and Industries Chairman Ram Kumar Sharma.

Police said they have arrested suspect Birendra Yadav of Sipuwa-5 from the southern part of the district and investigation into the case is underway. Rupanedhi SP Rabindra bahadur Dhanuk said the arrestee is among the assailants who shot at businessman Neupane.

A probe committee has also been formed under DSP Bel Bahadur Panday to look into the incident.
