The rope-fixing team on Wednesday completed the route to the summit of Mount Everest, officially opening the way for climbers attempting the world’s highest peak this spring season.
According to Seven Summit Treks, the rope-fixing team successfully reached the summit from the Nepali side at 10:25 am, completing the 2026 rope-fixing mission from Base Camp to the top of the mountain.
The summit team included three Sherpas from the company—Mingtemba Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa and Dendi Sherpa.
Led by Mingtemba Sherpa together with Pasang Ngima Sherpa, the fixing teams joined forces overnight after successfully fixing ropes up to the Balcony at 8,400 metres on Tuesday. They completed the final section via the South Summit to the peak.
This season brought major challenges from the outset, expedition organisers said.
Delays in opening the route through the Khumbu Icefall created immense pressure on route-opening and load-ferrying operations.
“Through strong teamwork, coordination, and determination among all operators, the mission was successfully accomplished,” Seven Summit Treks said on its Facebook page.
The government has issued climbing permits to at least 492 fee-paying climbers this season, the highest number on record. With each climber requiring at least one guide, the total number of people on the mountain could exceed 1,000, according to expedition operators.
So far, three people have died on Everest this climbing season.
