Nepse dips 1.66 points as turnover continues to shrink
The benchmark slips to 2,607.37 as more stocks decline for a second straight day.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) Index fell by 1.66 points on Thursday, closing at 2,607.37, down 0.06 percent from the previous day, as the market continued its mild downward trend.
Nepse had dropped by nearly 5 points on Wednesday, and Thursday’s session followed the same pattern, with more companies losing value than gaining. Of the traded stocks, 149 declined, 98 advanced and 11 remained unchanged, pulling the benchmark lower.
Market activity also weakened. A total of 7.77 million shares were traded through 69,729 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs3.49 billion. This represents a fall from Wednesday’s turnover of Rs3.73 billion, extending the decline in trading volume.
Of the 13 sub-indices, banking, life insurance, manufacturing & processing, microfinance and trading posted gains, while the remaining subgroups ended in negative territory.
