The SF1 and SJ1.5 smartphones were unveiled on Thursday.
Born in Silicon Valley and co-founded by John Sculley, renowned tech pioneer and ex-CEO of Apple, the Obi Worldphone bridges the gap between steeply priced high-end smartphones and feature-stripped generic ones at attractive price bands, Starck Tech said.
Obi Worldphone chose Nepal following successful launches in more than 10 other markets including Vietnam, Dubai, India and Latin America for consumers who want a beautiful, well-designed smartphone devoid of a steep price tag.
“In line with the company’s vision to introduce the latest technology products at affordable prices, Starck Tech has launched the Obi Worldphone in Nepal to cater to the fast growing mobile phone market in the country,” said Saurabh Jyoti of the Jyoti Group.
“With increasing demand for smartphones in Nepal, the company anticipates excellent response from customers towards the already popular Obi Worldphone.”
The SF1 is the company’s flagship 4G/LTE smartphone with state-of-the-art photography and audio capabilities, according to Starck Tech.
The set has a floating 5-inch display carved out of sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It has a premium feel with its reinforced fibreglass body and metal accents at the top and bottom.
The SF1 also features a long-life, quick-charge battery and easy-access dual SIM slots with micro SD expansion. The version with 2 GB RAM/16 GB internal memory costs Rs21,599 while the model with 3 GB RAM/32 GB internal memory costs Rs26,199.
The SF1 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 13-megapixel camera and best-in-class Sony sensors. The camera makes use of Qualcomm ChromaFlash, a feature that allows the user to take two photos quickly, one with flash and the other without.
It also boasts a 5 MP selfie camera with a dedicated LED flash for those perfect snaps. The SF1 runs on Google Android Lollipop. The SF1 is named after its city of origin, San Francisco.
Likewise, the SJ1.5 has an asymmetrical design with a crisp, squared-off top and a curved bottom that gives it a distinctive silhouette, according to the company.
The screen is made from 2.5D curved glass built flush with the body of the phone to give it a seamless feel in the hand. Along with dual SIM slots, the SJ1.5 comes with 16 GB internal storage and a card slot for expansion.
The SJ1.5 sports front and rear cameras and is protected by scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The SJ1.5 uses Android Lollipop operating system and its retail price is Rs14,799.
