Malindo Air begins Kathmandu flights
Malaysia-based Malindo Air on Saturday officially launched its Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur service.
The flights will be operated daily on Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, with the flight departing Kuala Lumpur at 6:55 pm and arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport at 9:30 pm local time, according to a Malindo statement. The return flight departs Kathmandu at 10:20 pm and touches down in Kualalumpur at 5:20 am local time .
“We are very pleased to bring Malaysians closer to the mountainous range of Annapurna and the Himalayas. This route reinforces our commitment to provide an affordable yet comfortable option for travel for customers who look for added value and services in their travel plans,” said Malindo CEO Chandran Rama Muthy, adding the company believes Kathmandu, being a scenic and attractive holiday
destination, will be a popular tourist pull for travelers young and old.
The carrier said its new route is in parallel with several other ATR routes announced for this month. Malindo Air is a Malaysian hybrid airline. It is a joint-venture between Malaysian and Indonesian companies.
The airline took to the skies in March 2013 with domestic flights and has since grown to operate routes to all major airports in Malaysia and across regional destinations in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Singapore.
The company’s fleet has been growing leaps and bounds to 11 ATR72- 600 and eight Boeing 737s within 18 months of operation. Currently, the airline operates over 800 flights weekly across a continuously growing network of close to 40 routes in the ASEAN region.
