With 2,975 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 705,072
The Health Ministry reports 35 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Wednesday reported 2,975 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 705,072.
Similarly, 1132 people tested positive in a total of 4,944 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Wednesday, 3,644,472 PCR and 336,823 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 11,354 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 35 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,957. The number of active cases stands at 33,464.
According to the ministry, 661,651 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,535 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,279 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 908 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 206 in Lalitpur and 165 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 582 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 22 in Province 2, 1,644 in Bagmati, 438 in Gandaki, 163 in Lumbini, 77 in Karnali and 49 Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 14 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 19 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Wednesday, 714 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 156—45 in Province 1, 92 in Bagmati, 13 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 2448 new coronavirus cases and 24 new deaths. Similarly, 2,279 new coronavirus cases and 23 deaths were recorded on Monday and 1,981 new coronavirus cases and 18 deaths were reported on Sunday.
