With 1,479 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 652,859

Nepal on Friday reported 1,479 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 652,859.
Similarly, 760 people tested positive in a total of 4,656 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,403,410 PCR and 227,207 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,657 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 20 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,340. The number of active cases stands at 26,590.
According to the ministry, 616,929 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,316 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 380 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 261 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 74 in Lalitpur and 45 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 411 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 40 in Province 2, 700 in Bagmati, 174 in Gandaki, 90 in Lumbini, 59 in Karnali and eight in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, nine districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 24 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 539 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 166—42 in Province 1, 99 in Bagmati, 11 in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini, two in Karnali, and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 1,218 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths. Similarly, 2,077 new coronavirus cases and 28 deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 1,718 new coronavirus cases and 15 deaths were reported on Tuesday.
