National Covid-19 tally reaches 272,614 with 57 new infections

Nepal did not record any Covid-19-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Saturday.
The country has recorded 2,054 deaths due to Covid-19 so far. The ministry had reported two deaths due to complications caused by the coronavirus disease on Friday and five on Thursday. The country had reported zero Covid-19-related deaths on Wednesday.
In the past 24 hours, the ministry said, the country reported 57 new coronavirus infections, pushing the overall infection number to 272,614.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 268,929 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 133 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 31 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 24 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, six in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur.
As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,471. While Kathmandu has reported 501 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 163 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 1,005 individuals from Bagmati Province, 292 from Lumbini Province, 230 from Province 1, 220 from Province 2, 213 from Gandaki Province, 67 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Saturday, 2,113,549 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 1,900 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 34 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki Province, six in Lumbini Province, four in Sudurpaschim Province and one each in Province 1 and Province 2.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Ilam, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Rukum (West), Mugu and Achham districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Saturday, 56 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 17 others—14 in Bagmati and three in Lumbini—were on ventilator support.
