A new wave of spirituality at ‘Bhajan Sanjh’

Yagyashala Nepal is hosting the 9th edition of its spiritual musical series, ‘Bhajan Sanjh’, today at Pragya Pratisthan Dabali, Kathmandu.
The event, which has emerged as a youth-driven spiritual movement, blends traditional devotional music with a modern presentation style, offering a refreshing alternative to Western concepts of healing and wellness.
‘Bhajan Sanjh’ was initiated with the vision of reviving Nepal’s spiritual culture and making bhajans appealing and accessible to today’s generation. Organisers say the mission extends beyond hosting events. It also aims to create a positive space where music, spirituality, and emotional well-being meet, addressing the growing need for grounding and healing among youths.
The event is the brainchild of Nirjan Adhikari, founder of Yagyashala Nepal, which is a spiritual collective based in Bhaktapur.
“I started this movement because our generation is slowly drifting away from its roots,” Adhikari said. “Bhajans are not just songs—they are therapy, heritage, and a path to inner balance.”
Adhikari added, “I wanted to create a platform where youths can experience spiritual connection in a way that feels authentic and relevant to them.”
The event also aims to provide opportunities for classical and devotional musicians, many of whom struggle for platforms in the commercial music scene.
The organisers said that since its first edition on January 1, 2023, the event has drawn a growing youth audience, showing that spirituality presented in a modern, engaging way still connects strongly with young people today.
In a statement, Yagyashala Nepal said its plans include nationwide spiritual concerts, youth-centred healing sessions, and global showcases promoting Nepal as a hub for spiritual music and wellness.
