Rain and thunderstorms are likely in parts of Koshi Province and several hilly regions across the country on Friday as a western weather system continues to influence Nepal’s weather, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi Province and other hill and mountain areas are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi Province.

Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is also possible at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Similar conditions may occur at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in the Tarai of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

During the night, the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces and at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan areas of Bagmati Province.
