Dr Govinda KC, who is receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, has been moved to general ward from Intensive Care Unit on Sunday. Dr KC was shifted to cabin as per his own request, it is learnt.

Dr Govinda KC has been staging his 16th hunger strike in eastern district of Illamsince January 9, demanding the government endorse the Medical Education Bill by incorporating past agreements reached with him.

After his health condition deteriorated, he was brought to Kathmandu for medical attention on Friday. His fast-unto-death has entered 12th day today.

Dr KC has been administered antibiotics for pneumonia. Physicians involved in his treatment have suggested keeping him in isolation to avoid contamination from the crowd. His White Blood Cell count has dropped to 3000 per cubic millimeter.
