The meeting of Education and Health Committee of Parliament called on Thursday to discuss the National Medical Education Bill was postponed after a majority of lawmakers failed to show up.
Only two lawmakers—Khagaraj Adhikari and Ekwal Miya—were present in the meeting. Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel was also present for the meet. He waited around an hour for other lawmakers to arrive at the committee’s office in Singha Durbar and left after eight lawmakers didn't come.
The committee has formed an 11-member sub-committee to discuss the bill and prepare a report on it. On Wednesday, only five members of the subcommittee were present and the meeting was postponed until today.
The committee has prepared a deadline to register the report at the Parliament by November 18. But with lawmakers snubbing the meeting, discussion and preparation of report works have become uncertain.
The meeting has now been postponed until November 18.
