Shah was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.
“We have successfully implanted a coronary stent in his artery to keep them open and for smooth supply of blood,” said Dr Yadav Bhatta, leader of a medical team that performed the procedure on Shah, afterwards. His condition is stable and will remain in the hospital for a few days, according to a hospital source.
Dr Bhatta said they had recommended angiogram to Shah after suspicion of a block in a heart valve during a regular health check-ups in the past.
Shah has been living in a forest retreat in Nagarjun, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, after the abolition of monarchy in 2008.
